MENTOR

MINISTRY EFFORTS

Our ministries are based upon a vision: Passion for God...Compassion for People, which is based upon the relationships indicated by Jesus Christ in the "greatest commandments" in Matthew 22:

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:37-40

The ministries based upon each relationship are designed to help as we learn, grow, serve, and mature in our relationships that Reach Up, Reach In, and Reach Out.

Reach Up - Our first priority is to God. Our passion Reaches UP to Him.  He is our fuel, our salvation, our very source of life.  Everything else we do will build on our foundation with Him.

Reach In - One kind of neighbor is already in the body of Christ. Our compassion reaches in to our spiritual brothers and sisters.  We follow Jesus by caring for other Christians.

Reach Out -- Another kind of neighbor does not know God. Our compassion reaches out. Every heart filled with Christ is a missionary.  Every heart without Christ is a mission field.

Adult Education Ministry

God has one universal purpose for humanity, that we become One with Him, One with the church (the body of believers), and, if married, One with our spouse. This unity with God, His Church, and our spouse is focused upon love of God and each other, and obedience to God’s commands, contained within His divine, perfect, and unerring word.

The vision and purpose of the Adult Education Ministry in accomplishing this universal plan first facilitates Bible study to address God’s design for developing unity with Him, within the church body and marriage relationship. The strategy involves textual and topical studies from the Old and New Testament, and studies to enrich marriage relationships.

Audio Cassette Ministry

Each sermon is recorded weekly and a cassette audio tape is available for anyone who wants it. Fill out the request and give to the office.

Benevolence Ministry

Meeting the physical needs of our church members and members of our surrounding community. Matthew 25:35-45

Building & Grounds Ministry
Providing effective, comfortable, and attractive facilities for public worship, Bible study, and general building usage.

‘Care Bear’ Ministry

A group gathers once each month to sew together ‘Care Bears” which are distributed to hospital children and others in need.

Children's Ministry

Encouraging both the mental and spiritual development of our children in everything we do. To provide a loving and nurturing environment that will allow each child's personal faith building process to occur.

It is our belief that the eternal truths of Scripture are as relevant today as they have ever been, but that children have the need - and right - to learn of Jesus in a "language" they understand.  Our emphasis is joy based on the Gospel message that Jesus saves us. We seek to create a safe place for children to love each other, love God and love their extended Christian family, all emerging from the joys and pains of their life experience.  We have lots of fun, do things together, act goofy sometimes, serious at others; all with a two-fold purpose - bringing glory to God and the message of salvation to everyone we meet.

Children age birth to 6th grade make up one third of the membership at Mentor.  Our nursery is staffed during all services. We offer regular Bible classes for toddlers to 6th graders on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. In addition, children may participate in seasonal activities, service projects, and activities just for fun!

As part of our Children's Ministry we offer a worship class specifically designed for children age 3 to 2nd grade. The class meets each Sunday morning during the sermon of the adult worship.

Counseling Ministry

Counseling is offered through the minister's office to help any person or family deal with confidential issues

Finance Ministry

Properly manage the financial resources that the Lord has blessed us with by safeguarding the receipt of contributions and ensuring that expenditures are appropriate.

Greeters Ministry

Displaying a Christ-like friendliness to both visitors and members and to provide visitors with information about Mentor.

Internet Ministry
Providing a website that is primarily visitor friendly, provides basic information about Mentor and its ministry work, and secondly, provides information to church members about ministries, classes, Bible studies, missions and outreach work.

LIFE Groups
The congregation is divided into four groups by geography and are encouraged to meet every 4-6 weeks in someone's home, for a time of fellowship and in-reach.

Nursery Ministry
Providing a safe, secure and Christian environment for the spiritual development of our infants.

Partner/Fellowship Ministry
To help new members get acquainted with the building, location of classes and meeting new people for the first few months, we pair them with an existing family in our Partner Ministry.

Sign Language Ministry

A group meets weekly to learn new words as we offer ‘sign language’ for our deaf members and visitors.

Youth Ministry
The Mentor youth group consists of over 40 teenagers, grades seven through twelve. Working closely with key leaders are adult teachers assigned to every grade who work closely with each particular class, teaching, leading devotionals and attending youth events with our young people. Each year members of the youth group attend camps here in Ohio and some even travel to Canada. They also attend youth events in-state and out-of-state. The Mentor Youth Program is energetic and focused on the Lord.
